In a previous post we discussed the phenomenon of Nepal’s living goddess, Kumari Sajani Shakya, since we explore similar themes in our DEVI comic. On July 3rd, Kumari was stripped of her title for defying tradition and traveling to the US to promote an upcoming documentary focusing on the lives of Nepal’s child goddesses. According to latest reports, it appears that she will be reinstated since she has agreed to go through a short “cleansing” ceremony. To see pictures of the child goddess, click here.
