Stan also talks with The Comic Collective about his new superhero universe with Virgin Comics:
Premiering today is the “Next Level” Nike commercial directed by Guy Ritchie, creator of Virgin Comics’ Gamekeeper series.
According to Ritchie, “This ad is essentially following the journey, the rise of a soccer superstar. It’s all done through the point of view of the player and is actually the largest advert I have ever filmed.”

The wait is over! We’re proud to announce that the creator of the wildly ambitious “Family From Hell: A Documentary” has won the Shadow Hunter’s Family From Hell grand prize—a custom sketch by Shadow Hunter cover artist, Greg Horn. We haven’t decided just how badly the Shadow Hunter will be kicking their ass in the picture.
We had so many fantastic submissions that not only was it hard to pick the Grand Prize winner, but it was equally hard to select the 10 runner ups, who will all receive autographed Shadow Hunter lithographs and a collection of Virgin Comics Trade Paperbacks.

In case you haven’t heard, the creator of our Director’s Cut series The Megas, Jonathan Mostow, is Executive Producer of Will Smith’s upcoming summer blockbuster, Hancok. It’ll be in theatres on July 2nd, and looks to be a really entertaining and unique take on the superhero genre. Check out the trailer here.
Mostow’s also been in the news this week with casting announcements on the next film he’ll be directing—an adaptation of the graphic novel The Surrogates. Joining Bruce Willis in the cast is Ving Rhames, Radha Mitchell and others. Read all about it here.

The animated trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Gamekeeper has been selected as featured content on MySpaceTV, the viral video community of MySpace. Concurrently, the trailer is also the Featured Video of the social networking site’s comic book community, MySpace Comic Books.
Marc Guggenheim, writer of Hugh Jackman’s Nowhere Man shares his thoughts on story concepts and themes:
“It’s basically a science fiction book, set in the far future and it deals, essentially, with the Patriot Act on steroids, but in a totally surprising way. It’s one thing to say ‘the Patriot Act on steroids,’ but you have to know the kind of steroids we are talking about here.
“They really completely upend any notion of personal privacy that you might have. One of things we all initially talked about was how the best science fiction had things to say about today. By telling stories about the future, we are telling stories about the here and now. And obviously, in the wake of 9/11, we all, as Americans, have a choice to make, in terms of our security versus our personal privacy and where do you strike that balance. It’s obviously something a lot of politicians, and judges and lawyers and citizens and patriots have debated. Not just after 9/11 but before 9/11. I think we have a chance to say something interesting and new about the topic. Plus we have a really cool, very kick-ass science fiction story to tell.”
